  • How does Acupuncture work?
    Acupuncture works on a network of pathways in the body referred to as meridians. During treatment, the ease of flow of energy or Acupuncture promotes blood circulation, reduces inflammation and relieves pain. It can assist your body’s natural healing process and boost your immune system. It also works amazing to release endorphins, relieve stress and improve longevity.
  • What is “Qi”?
    Qi is the source or spark of all life. It is the energy inside the body and operates as the vital force of creation. It circulates between the muscles and the skin through what Chinese Medicine refers to as the meridians. Proper circulation and mechanism of Qi is essential for good health.
  • What type of needles are used?
    We use one time use, disposable, sterile, fine needles. You can fit approximately 40 acupuncture needles in a standard medical hypodermic needle.
  • How soon can one expect results, and how many treatments are necessary?"
    Every case is different as each body heals at its own unique pace depending on the duration, severity and nature of the condition. Usually patients report feeling improvement after the first couple sessions and in fact, many patients feel much relief after the first treatment. During your initial visit, we will create and discuss with you an individual treatment plan including approximately how many treatments we can estimate it will take to achieve the desired result.
  • What sensations can I expect during and after the treatment?
    Insertion of the needles is relatively painless. You may experience what feels like a small prick and then a sensation of warmth, heaviness or mild achiness at the site of the needle. This is your body’s response to the needle and it means it is actively creating an immune response. Following the treatment, it is normal to feel more calm, energized, or sometimes you can feel tired. Overall, you will feel a sense of relief
  • How long is each session?
    The first treatment will be approximately 90 minutes. We will do an in depth intake where we discuss your chief concern, medical history and come up with a treatment plan. Each follow up visit is approximately 60- 75 minutes.
  • What can I do to make myself ready before my acupuncture treatment?
    To get the best results from your treatment, it is recommended that you arrive in loose fitting clothing, in good hygiene. We will avoid treatment if a patient is excessively tired, hungry, extremely emotionally upset, or under the influence of a substance. Please arrive 5 minutes early as to relax and be ready for your session.
